OFFICERS OF “SET” MAKE FIREARM ARREST & UNCOVER ANOTHER FIREARM
Shortly before 6:00 pm on Thursday 01st September, 2011 officers of the Selective Enforcement Team (SET) were on patrol on Reeves Street in the Fox Hill area when they observed a male with a handgun. It is reported that the culprit on seeing the officers fled into nearby house. Officers pursued the 19 year old male, caught up with him and were able to retrieve the handgun.
A short while later, officers went to Dorsett Street, Fox Hill where they observed a white Sentra occupied by two (2) men acting suspiciously. It is reported that the culprits on seeing the police, exited the vehicle, and was observed dropping an object while fleeing into nearby bushes. Officers conducted a search of the area where the men fled and recovered a handgun with ammunition. No one was taken into custody. Active police investigations continue.
POLICE MAKES FIREARM ARREST & ARREST ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS
Police arrested three (3) men at Ragged Island after searching their vehicle and discovering a number of stolen items. According to police reports around 11:20 pm on Thursday 01st September, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at Marathon Road. Police responded and information received, that a male and female were at Marathon Road when they were approached by two men, one of whom was allegedly armed with a handgun. It is reported that the culprits robbed the two of an undetermined amount of cash and cell phones and fled the area in a Honda Civic. Acting on information police proceeded to Ragged Island Street where they located a vehicle fitting the description given. A search of the vehicle revealed a handgun, lap tops, cash and the cell phones.
Active police investigations continue.
POLICE FOILED ARMED ROBBERY & ARREST THREE (3) MEN
Three (3) men attempting to rob a business establishment at Millers Height Carmichael Road are in hospital under heavy police guard.
According to police reports sometime around 9:50 pm on Thursday 01st September, 2011 police received information of an armed robbery at the business establishment.
Quick response by police resulted in the suspects opening fire on the police. As a result the police returned fire which resulted in the three (3) suspects being shot.
No officers were injured during the incident. Active police investigations continue.
POLICE REQUEST PUBLIC’S HELP IN LOCATING SUSPECT
Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the occupants of a white S-10 truck responsible for a shooting incident in Big Pond Subdivision.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly before 8:00 pm on Thursday 01st September, 2011.
According to police reports the victim – a male, was walking on Water Street, Big Pond when he was approached by occupants of a white S-10 truck. It is reported that the culprits fired gunshots at the victim, which resulted in the victim receiving multiple gunshot injuries to the body.
The victim was taken to hospital via EMS personnel where he is detained in serious condition.

TWO FOREIGN NATIONALS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUGS…..
This morning, Friday 2nd September, 2011, officers at the Drug Enforcement Unit here on the island of Grand Bahama, are continuing their investigations regarding the arrest of two Jamaican Nationals during the later afternoon of Thursday 1st September, 2011.
It was approximately 4:20pm yesterday, Thursday 1st September, 2011, while officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on patrol in Freeport in the area of Silver Point near the canal, when they arrested the two males, ages 26 and 28 years of Jamaica for possession of dangerous drugs namely: marijuana.
These men were taken into police custody along with two backpacks containing 12.5 lbs and 10.5 lbs respectively, totaling an estimate of 23.0 lbs of marijuana with an estimated street value of $25,000.00.
The officers are commended for their vigilance and effort to remove illegal drugs from the streets of Grand Bahama.
