Saxons were unofficially declared WINNERS of the 2010 New Years Day parade. To all the groups a good 2010 Boxing Day theme would be…’News for the century…2000 to 2009 a decade in the new millennium’. GET WORKING ON IT…BP wants to sponsor a costume.

  1. Also, I wanted to add that the bar that the woman fell off of seemed to be in gross health and construction violations. There were six skylights on the floor of the balcony that many people were standing on. And they were only covered by a plastic dome, which broke when the woman fell through it. Not to mention that the bar was open past the midnight curfew that was instituted for the parade.

  2. I was also at that location and saw that woman fall. I was about five feet away from her when it happened. I’ve been trying to find out more information about it too. I was told it made it to the local television news the next day and they said she was in critical condition, but I’ve not been able to find anything else. I wish the local Bahamas newspapers would cover this.

  3. My husband and I were in Nassau waiting for the New Year’s Day Junkanoo parade to begin (It was about 1:30 AM on Jan. 1, 2010) and we saw a woman fall through a skylight on the awning of a building on bay street and lay motionless in the sidewalk until an ambulance came about 20 minutes later. We were across the street and could not see if she ever moved, because of the crowd around her, and I was just hoping to find some news of her, and I am hoping she survived the fall. It was only a one-story fall (near the “Tropicana” balcony at the very front end of the parade route), but she definitely looked like she was hurt. Do you have any news of this incident? Thank you.
