BREAKING NEWS <<< BP is reporting The Shell Saxons Superstars will be declared the winners of the 2011 Boxing Day Parade followed by One Family in a hotly contested battle.
Here is the Breakdown <<< Valley Boys 4th, Roots 3rd, One Family 2nd and Saxons First PLACE!
BP can also confirm FANCY DANCERS took first place for the B Category in the parade…
I would say that One Family was awesome Boxing Day but let’s look at it from another stand point. For someone who don’t follow Junkanoo and you took away the piece(s) with Mr. Burnside on it how would you have known what their theme was about??? I’m all for honoring an individual but come on people let’s be real.

The One Family were very good I enjoyed their performance, but in my opinion the Roots were better and deserved 2nd place not third.
Further, the Saxons earn every point they were given and more. They out performed every one on Bay Street and Shirley Street.
I strongly agree with you Ms Major…..ONE FAMILY was clearly the winners both last year and this year, but the JUNKANOO system is messed up just like our Government system its either plp or fnm so it has to be either the saxons or the valley……….shame

Who was that lady running on on ZNS about Junkanoo. Some half way Dr. What she was spouting is total nonsense. I’m in London watching and having a good time and she goes on about how sometimes the music is off and costumes are not authentic. Please someone tell her to get real. Junkanooers are not some national band or military band. They do not represent the state. They represent us as a people in a very genuine way. More genuine than any band can do. Slaves didn’t have the brass instruments we have today so she is missing the point when she talks about what the music is suppose to sound like. We now want this perfect orchestra of music. Well thats not junkanoo to me. If its only them drums and cowbells I still love to hear that goat skin bang and dem bells kalik. Tell ZNS to get people who know what they talkin about.

Saxons sucked BIG TIME! This is Junkanoo not Carnival so what’s up with the thousands of styrofoam balla! Sanxons rushed like they were simply tired. ONE FAMILY – you guys did Jackson proud and were the clear winners in the eyes of objective viewers. Once again the JCN should hang their heads in shame for failing to implement a fair and sensible judging system.
One Family, and by extension, Junkanoo fans, were robbed. No one even came close to One Family and again they gave it to Saxons. It makes me not want to go to Junkanoo anymore since the system is rigged.
This obvious bias for Saxons makes people not want to go to Junkanoo. Anyone with eyes can see that One Family brought the best to Junkanoo.
Dont forget One Family originally came from Saxons…they got what they deserve second…It’s always nice to know they follow right behind Saxons…therefore TWO STRAIGHT!!!! YOU AINT SEE NOTHING YET….. WAIT FOR NEW YEARS!!!! to all Saxons HATERS….
