Nassau, Bahamas — There is another mounting scandal and possible thievery emerging from the offices of a political candidate in eastern New Providence. Bahamas Press reports the incident confirms damming story of a modern-day heist involving a candidate of the Democratic National Alliance and a fire and brimstone preacher in southern New Providence.

We can report this time it is not the government’s BAIC office, where Edison Key accused DNA leader Branville McCarrtney last week, of soliciting funds to do legal work for the Corporation while he sat in Cabinet. This latest incident involves the sale of a defective vehicle to a high priest in the Bahamian religious community, and here’s what we know.

Bahamas Press can tell you DNA candidate, Ben Albury, may be the next DNA member to drop out of the race as the minister of the gospel is set to take him to court. Papers set to be filed in the Supreme Court of The Bahamas, by the Nation’s Chief Apostle, Rev. Dr. Leon Wallace, against Bahamas Bus and Truck’s and its manager [Albury], after selling the preacher a $50,000 [fifty thousand dollars] BMW, which had a factory default.

This incredible Sunday news has now hit the press at BP, and is now being carried live around the world.

Dr. Jonathan Rodgers and Branville McCartney, leaders of the DNA, are finding multiple problems with candidates ratified by the Party to contest seats in the General Elections.

In a telephone conversation with the popular television pastor of the Voice of Deliverance Ministries, Rev. Wallace said he purchased the vehicle over a year ago and has yet to enjoy a decent ride after paying the ‘fifty-gees’ to Albury for it.

“I went to Bahamas Bus and Truck and was served by Mr. Albury who told me he had a vehicle I would be interested in. In then showed me a BMW, which he said was going for $50,000. I asked him if he could do any better, and he flatly turned down a better offer,” Apostle Wallace said.

“I therefore went to the bank, got a loan for the vehicle and delivered the cheque and bought the car. Three days after that transaction took place the vehicle shut down and for the now over one year, the car has been parked in Leo Auto for repairs.

“I have tried every way possible to have this matter resolved with Mr. Albury but he has refused to come to an understanding. And now I am stuck with a car that I have yet to enjoy, paid Bus and Truck over $50,000; was advised that the car needed a new engine and then paid an additional $9,500 to have that new engine installed and to this day the car is still not working and is parked in the mechanic shop.”

Bahamas Press has learnt legal teams for Apostle Wallace are set to file papers in the Supreme Court on the matter, which if not settled, could cause the auto company and its manager more than $100,000 in settlements.

Albury is the DNA candidate for Montagu and all attempts by Bahamas Press to make contact with the dealer were fruitless, and have raised further questions as to who appointed and vetted the candidates running in the DNA.

The Chief Apostle may order all his 13 branch churches to turn down their plates in fasting against the DNA Party following the scandal, which could spell trouble for the DNA even before the race can begin.

Meanwhile, Apostle Wallace is set to speak to hard-line FNMs at its 40th Anniversary Celebration Service of the Party at the Cathedral in Malcolm Allotment East. Keynote speaker for the 3pm event will be the Nation’s Chief, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Hubert Alexander Ingraham. Apostle Wallace is expected to deliver a message under the theme: ‘Do Not Be Distracted’.

  1. Honestly I did not know Bahamaian ppl were so ignorant until I read these post! First of all why can’t a Man of God ride in what ever he wants? Does it mean that because he is a man of God he should live like a beggar or jonser? Does it turn your stomach when politians drive fancy cars?? Why shouldn’t they enjoy a decent life? Obviously they don’t work so they are taken care of by their congregation… big deal! @ The person who is so surprised that Apostle Wallace had to borrow fifty gees obviously he is not banking the money. We are on televison, Do you think ZNS is free? I think it is very ignorant to compare the days of Jesus to present day….No wonder students struggle in school their parents display high levels of ignorance!

  2. I do NOT see the problem when everyone knows the average new car in the Bahamas cost more than 30,000 – 40,000 and if it is an SUV it cost over 50,000 – 60,000. How could you pass judgment if you do not know the situation? What about right and wrong? What if it was you that bought a car for fifty thousand dollars? Having to pay a loan for something that you did not have the use of not even for a month? Knowing the facts like I do……four days after the car was pruchased Mr. Albury was made aware by Apostle and his son was there that there was a problem with the car. To my knowledge it was Mr. Albury who reccommended them to two mechanics that is after telling them there was nothing he could do. Again remember it was Mr. Albury who served Apostle Wallace and his son @ Bahamas Bus and Truck so be fair in passing your judgement because he is a man of the cloth, should he be stupid? Even when Mr. Albury refused to talk to him even after trying to many times? Now that is the facts! Ask me if you want the rest!

  3. I need to say thank you very much for the job you have made in writing this blog post. I am hoping the same most reliable work by you in the future as well.

  4. Not knowing the terms of conditions of the sale, it is hard to pass judgment here. An open mind needs to be had to be fair to all concerned. However, I do have a hard time with some of these so called self proclaimed higher and holier than Jesus. And in most cases, flaunting a high end material lifestyle in the eye of the public. Sometimes, justice is very poetic for some situations.

  5. What difference does it make if the Apostle bought a BMW,their SUVs cost just as much. Whether he got a loan or whatever, if he wants a Beemer SO WHAT. I do agree that he should have taken it back to Bus & Truck to fix, but then again that is not a car brand that they carry. I would like to know what the terms were regarding this purchase and why Mr Albury ain’t available for comment. Silence give consent in most situations.

  6. BP, you’ll really thin skinned; if ya ga post stuff for folks like me to read, why get upset when I voice my opinion

  7. Many issues here. First, the main point — yes the Reverend Doctor needs to be treated fairly reference to his car troubles.
Secondly, the other issue raised – a reverend and a $50K beemer… or a rev and a bentley or other high end vehicle and their big time houses or mansions and high end lifestyles…then you have church leaders who are sexin their church memebers and sweetheartin…all of this tells me that these people are not praying everyday have little if any relationship with God and it shows, in my view, they are a poor witness of Jesus and the values he talks about. These ministers of religion do not inspire young people to embrace the christian life cuz the ministers in many cases are so obviously living in this world and caving into this world and its culture that even they seem to say God doesn’t matter. We have so few spiritual leaders in our country…so very few. Jesus said “by their fruits you shall know them” I know I will be attacked for this statement.

  8. He’s not my apostle and never will be. Preaching for the Lord and driving in a Beemie. While the people who gave them the $ catching bus, walking, or in a broke down car with no A/C. No matter what, the Lord is still on the throne and those that use His name will be dealt with.

    • But broken why you cannot feel the same disgust when Brent Symonette collected over $60 million out of the public purse for the road? Why raise all this hell over a car? Do you know the price for an average car in the Bahamas?

  9. Why is everyone commenting missing the point that money was paid for a vehicle and it has not been delivered in working condition. Before we can begin to question Apostle Wallaces’ pecularities let’s face the fact that someone without his financial capabilities would be left holding the bag waiting for Mr. Albury to do the right thing.

  10. BP YOUR STORIES GET WORST EVERY DAY! ARE YOU NOT TIRED OF BAD MOUTHING PEOPLE JUST TO TRY AND GAIN POLITICAL BROWNIE POINTS FOR YOUR PARTY OF CHOICE? WOW! FACT: The singing bishop/apostle is wrong in every aspect if u had a problem with a new vehicle you take it back to the store of purchase. Not a (bush mechanic)/member of your church for a better deal.2) he has no need for a vehicle of that value when he always on television asking for money to do this or help with that. This is sad. “Its better to give than to receive” Nough said BP please keep the public informed with news we need to know not this nonsense.

  12. I can’t get past the fact that the APOSTLE bought a $50,000.00 car! I guess the job of an apostle is a very lucrative one! Turns my stomach to think that a “man of God” thinks he needs a $50,000 ride to drive past members of his congregation who have to take the bus!! So many things are sooooo wrong in our country!
