DEU MAKE LARGE DRUG SEIZURE AT LPIA, 3 MEN ARRESTED
Two Bahamian male pilots ages 48 and 37 years along with a 23 – year old Canadian man are in custody after they were arrested following a huge drug seizure at LPIA on Monday 7th April 2014.
According to reports, around 8:00pm, Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) Officers assisted by officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) acting on intelligence went to the Executive Flight Support section at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), where they conducted a search of a Hawker Jet that had just arrived to the Bahamas from Montreal Canada. During the search, the officers found Four (4) suitcases containing 149 pounds of Marijuana, 17.4 pounds of Esctasy Pills and 2.6 pounds of Hashish Oil. The three suspects were then taken into custody and are expected to appear in court later this week to face several drug related charges.
POLICE SEEK PUBLIC’S HELP IN SOLVING ARMED ROBBERIES
POLICE are requesting the public’s assistance in solving two armed robberies that occurred
In the first incident, shortly after 8:00am on Monday 7th April 2014, a man was on Carmichael Road, when two men armed with a handgun robbed him of cash and jewelry before fleeing on foot.
In the second incident, shortly after 10:00pm on Monday 7th April 2014, a man was in the Nassau Village area, when a man armed with a handgun demanded his cell phone and shoes. In the process of taking off his shoes, a gray coloured Nissan Altima vehicle number 11924 struck down the robber. Two men got out of the vehicle, picked up the robber’s gun from the ground and threw the robber into the trunk of their vehicle and sped off.
In the third incident, shortly after 12:30am on Tuesday 8th April 2014, a man was standing in front of his home located at Colony Village off Prince Charles Drive, when a man armed with a handgun robbed him of his cell phone and jewelry before fleeing in a black Honda vehicle occupied by two men.
Investigations are ongoing.
POLICE INVESTIGATE A STABBING INCIDENT
A 16 – year old male is detained in hospital following a stabbing incident that occurred on Monday 7th April 2014.
According to reports, shortly after 6:30am, the victim was walking on East Street South when a male stabbed him to the shoulder with an unknown object before fleeing on foot.
The victim was taken to hospital where he is detained in stable condition.
