Sometimes when we at Bahamas Press listen to the news we wonder to ourselves if journalist are ready to ask the right questions. Particularly those questions members of the public are asking. Like, WHERE IN THE HELL WAS THE PARENTS OF THE TWO BOYS WHO DROWNED IN ADELAIDE VILLAGE ON SUNDAY?
Tonight one reporter decided to talk to the mother of one of the victims and ask her if the boy often went OUT TO SEA BY HIMSELF? The mother replied, “NO”. But how could she know? She did not know where her son was the day he drowned? And what angered us was the following point in the interview. The mother decided to advise the public as to how “WE” in the general public should protect our children. THIS IS LUNACY!
When we at Bahamas Press hear these kind of advise coming form such IRRESPONSIBLE PERSONS, we know something has terribly gone wrong in our country. THE MOTHER AFTER A SAD FACT WANTS TO SHOW SHE CARES! How in the hell these WUTLESS PARENTS EXPECT TO ADVISE THE PUBLIC ON CHILD CARE, WHEN THEY FAILED TO HEED TO THEIR OWN ADVISE? I mean people think we in the Bahamas STUPID ECH? This country is fast becoming one DAMN CRAZY SOCIETY! The CHILDREN ARE UNDER 10 years of age! How in the HELL THEY ENDED UP IN ROUGH SEAS ALONE? Did anyone think about that? That is NEGLECT!
If the boys were 16 that’s a different story, but these are CHILDREN! BABIES LEFT TO DROWN IN THE HUNRY OCEAN ALONE! Bahamas Press is SICK and TIRED of these SLACK PARENTS who leave their children wondering all along the streets of New Providence after dark. Where was the mother? Where was the daddy? And our next question is for their WICKED NEGLECT. WHY IN THE HELL THEY AREN’T BEFORE A JUDGE AS YET?
My response to this is “NEGLECT” am sorry that the two little boys drowned but WHERE THE FLIPPING HELL THE PARENTS WERE!!!!! they say they don’t usually go out but children don’t do things like that if they know how they parents are!!!!! if they train there child right then they would not do something there are not suppose to do…. so i just personally feel that they was not watching them kids.

I am resident of the Adelaide Community and when tide is really low yes the water is two feet deep. The boys went out during that time. I don’t know if you have ever seen the beach when tide is low…you can walk very far out. Tide began to rise very quickly and they were caught out there. Only one of the children had swimming capabilities and he was found closer to shore but these are children and swimming against rip current which is exactly what occurred that day is difficult and one must know how to swim in conditions such as that….and many adults even die trying to swim against rip currents.
I must comment on this outrageous statement. Many people asked where were the parents but if you were not there or not closely linked to the family you do not know what occurred. You were not in the neighborhood looking for those children. Quit criticizing people and digging into information when you do not know the story. I know the parents of those children very well and they were good parents. They always ensured that their children had their needs and those boys were mannerly and well-disciplined. When they were not seen, it was assumed that they were out on there every Sunday routine of playing basketball with their male family members. They should not be arrested because there was no neglect in this situation. You people just love to crtiticize and believe me I am sure that you and even others may have greater issues that you need to seek help about.

Well “Hardhead gal” I wouldn’t shout! If my mother wasn’t standing over my head, my daddy was. And when it wasn’t daddy it was sisters or brothers an aunt or uncle. When I found myself alone I was in my late teens in College. Now imagine that. These babies I mean 10 and under rowing into the HUNGRY OCEAN and the family talking mess and says, “They don’t always go out like that”? WELL WAIT!
How in the hell lil children like those ended up pushing boat into the water? MY GOODNESS!
When I bought my first boat I was 33. And still I scared to go out to sea by myself, tried it once.
The PARENTS MAH AND PAH SHOULD BE LOCKED UP FOR CHILD NEGLECT! NO QUESTION, WE NEED MORE EXAMPLES FOR LAWBREAKERS.

Our society is really to blame for tragedys like this. Where have we gone wrong. As a child, I wouldn’t dare leave home without asking my parents who would often send me to the other for permission. I would get tired and just stay home because of the “ask your ma, ask your pa” drama. Going on the beach which was only a couple hundred yards away alone was unheard of. We need to encourage extended families so that children would have stability and discipline in the same place. The question remains, why in an archipelago of islands do we still have so many drownings?
Joe Blow your 100% right and once we as parents take heed to what advice given we should be alright. Take heed SUMMER TIME is coming up.We don’t need reoccurrence of this incident.
This is a time for parents and teachers to make youngsters aware of the dangerous aspects of our waters. The lessons should center around certain rules that must be established. 1. No one should venture out to sea without regard for the weather. 2. All persons should wear a lifejacket when on a sea craft. 3. Never enter waters that are unknown to you. 4. Never enter the water without a partner. 5. Always inform an adult of your plans to swim or boat and let them know an approximate time when you will check back in. And most important of all learn to swim at the earliest possible age. It is always surprising to me that parents will take their children for a day at the beach and neither parent themselves can swim. Since we are a country surrounded by the sea we should develope strong manditory programs for swimming and life-saving skills.
Yeah Dibbles this situation with those little boys is so upsetting. At least one of those parent should been out there looking after those boys and if something when wrong they would have been able to call for help. Those boys should have never been allowed to go out into the water or near it unsupervised. Sunday was a very breezy day, they should have never been allowed out of the house by themselves to begin with. Had this been in the US those wutless parents would have been arrested and the rest of their children would have been removed from the home. Child neglect is so common in the Bahamas that our police officers don’t even see the need to bring charges against these useless parents. They have the nerve to blame the RBDF for their slackness. People need to stop having children if they don’t have the time to raise them properly. Now two handsome innocent boys’ lives have been lost carelessly, because of these silly parents.

Good morning to the one pointeight Million readers to this blog.I have been reading but not responding but I can’t help it to get involved in this one story.As aparent myself I really felt it for both parents,but I asked the same question as all the other persons .Where the in the Hell werethe parents for those two boys.These boys had to be missing longer than the parents said two to one they didn’t even relized until it was to late. How does someone drown at Adelaide? The water is only like two feet high. Those boys must have been really far out. That community is so small and knitted together – they all are suffering because of this.

WHY IN THE HELL THEY AREN’T BEFORE A JUDGE AS YET? This is a very good question, I am really interested in hear the answer to this question. Media I guess if they lock them up, they will have to lock up so many other parents as well.
I guess this mother means well, she is just trying to warn the rest of the public, so they don’t make the same mistake she made with her child. We have to appreciate this warning, because she has first hand information as to what can happen when you don’t look after your children. I hope those other slack parents learns from her mistake.
This story was certainly disturbing. I feel very bad for both families.
