Residents must alert police to the land scam!
North Abaco, Bahamas – Two public officers on the island of Abaco could find themselves on the wrong side of the law as reports reaching our desk confirm several residents have been scammed in a land deal.
Bahamas Press has learned both alleged culprits are allegedly attached to a Government department and are connected to a major political party.
In one case the pair received funds from a local resident on the island, noting that they were collecting funds on behalf of the government for the sale of land in that part of the country. Several residents were duped into the scam and now the culprits are on the run.
Land scams are not new to the country. Back in March 2011 Bahamas Press team of investigators uncovered how a prominent and senior minister of the then Ingraham Government, whose father was also a prominent and senior minister of the UBP, engaged in the purchasing of hundreds of acres of land under fraudulent misrepresentation on the part of the seller.
BP calls on all residents caught in the current scam to report their matters to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
