Nassau, Bahamas: Robert Farquharson, president of the Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union (BCPOU) is calling for a MASSIVE demonstration of all unions in the country on Thursday. The union leader who led the ‘beer and peanuts’ war on Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham is calling for another massive demonstration.

Bahamas Press has learned that members of unions across the country are being asked to join the demonstration in tennis on tomorrow, as they send a LOUD and CLEAR message to the leadership of the country that, ‘Unions have the numbers and power to decide the future of this country.”

Sources organizing the event are unclear what disruptions will take place on Thursday but promises that, “the powers the be in this country will feel the wrath of workers all across this country.” Bahamas Press advises Bahamians to store water and iron all necessary clothing before Thursday sunrise.

  8. Is Earl Deveaux the Minister responsible for utilities still?? If so the unions need to LASH into him. Has anyone noticed how he has turned into a TOTAL Bumbler since the FNM came to power in 2007? During his interviews I feel a great sense of pity for him as he looks depressed and slightly mentally challenged. He is mumbling in his speech like he had a stroke or something. What is his problem? Think he starting to feel guilty bout the government school loans his daughters took out to buy CARS??

  9. Normally I dont really support unions but this time I am 100% behind this union demonstration as everyone in this country is fed up of the foolishness that this FNM government is doing.

Indeed I agree, we need to be saved from Mad Man Hubert Ingrham and his government.

  10. THIS DEMONSTRATIONS SHOULD BE SUPPORTED. IT SHOWS HOW EVERTHING IN THIS BAHAMA LAND IS BEING SOLD AND BOUGHT. WE NEED TO SUPPORT THOSE PROTESTORS, AND WE SHOULDN’T CONVERSE AMOUNG OURSELVES SAYING THAT THIS SHERADE WILL BE AN AMUSING ONE TO WATCH.

  11. Yes.. we were all duped in to thinking that the present government would be our “saviour”. The thing is we need to be “saved” from them. What’s with making Brent the minister responsible for Immigration? can Hubert not see what damage this would cost? Have we not enough Filipinos and Cubans taking our Bahamian domestic workers jobs? If you were to check out the MPs, alot of them have foreign workers in their homes. I never thought the day would come again when Bahamians would be treated as second class citizens in our own country. People remove the scales from thine eyes and see. Those of you that supported the F.N.M. including me…we know we are not happy with what is going on. Stop letting politics stand in the way of righteousness. What is wrong is wrong! I am pleading to the Government please preserve our heritage and country stop the selling out of land and coporations, For God’s sake rebuild the Straw Market. This is where our tourists purchase a piece of the island. As for BTC members calling a stike….I wish that I could be there to support them. How do they want them to react when they intend terminate their jobs? People are suffering..the rising cost of fuel and food is ridiculous!! We need solutions and we need them NOW!!Thank You and may God Bless us All and our Bahamaland.

  12. The union has tried to take this ocuntry hostage forever. They are nothing like what they were originally founded for. The unions should stand down and stop disrupting the peace!

They are not the servant of the people to determine the fate of 350,000 people. Tell Jabba the Hut (Farquharson)to stop feeding off of people’s hard earn money!

  13. IT WOULD BE MORE TO THE POINT IF THE UNION EXECUTIVES WOULD GET OFF THEIR DUFFS AND USE THEIR COLLECTED UNION DUES TO BENEFIT THE WORKERS. HAVE THEY LOBBIED FOR AN UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE SCHEME? IF THE UNION, WORKER, AND GOVERNMENT PUT IN A SPECIFIED AND EQUAL AMOUNT EACH WEEK AND THEN INVESTED SAME HONESTLY AND WISELY, JUST MAYBE THERE WOULD BE A FUND FOR THE BAD TIMES. AND HAVE THEY A PROGRAM OF EDUCATION FOR THEIR WORKERS WHO ARE LAID OFF SO THAT THEY CAN BE TRAINED IN A DIFFERENT AND MORE CURRENT FIELD AND BECOME MORE EMPLOYABLE?
BUT, OF COURSE, UNION OFFICIALS, AT THE HIGHER LEVEL, DON’T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT SUCH THINGS AS THEY HAVE A GUARENTEED WAGE. THEY CAN TAKE THE DAY OFF AND AGITATE AND STILL FEED THEIR FAMILY. ALL FOR PUBLICITY!

  14. No Union was elected to govern or determine the future of this country. Are the proposing a coup?

  15. Fed up and sick and tired. And,imagine these jokers only been in power ONE year. They trick us and now we are paying for it LITERALLY.

I forming my own party, man – The Playa’s Club – “Committed and Ready to Serve”….who wit me?…..lol…..might as well if jokers like Hubert could grace the halls of Parliament and lead this nation to hell in a drunken stupor.

  16. Bahamas Press you have me LMAO…..I remember the Beer and Peanuts war on Hubbiggety and his poor bodyguards trying to keep the union off him…..that was funny to watch.

I will chill my Kalik again to watch this union DRAMA unfold. Well the good news is if they turn off our electricity at least we will have relief of not incurring a bill for a few hours……lol….look at the bright side.

With all seriousness, this proposed action by the union simply shows how fed up workers in this country are with the current government.
