The Unauthorized Release of Classified Material

The U.S. Government engages in the drafting and transmission of cables as form of global communication. U.S. policy is made in Washington and field reporting is only one of the factors contributing to policy decisions.

Communications between the field and Washington ensures that policymakers in Washington have a full understanding of all the factors at play when they make decisions. By its very nature, field reporting to Washington is candid and often raw information. Analysis expressed in cables may also be out of context, or may be the opinion of the reporting officer- and those opinions may not be shared by policymakers.

The unauthorized release of classified material has the potential to harm individuals as well as undermine efforts to advance objectives shared by the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the United States of America. It is unfortunate that a decision has been made by the media to release information from conversations that took place in confidence.

  1. Leon you are so right! Nothing is confidential with those people! They always act like they have the answer to every problem but can’t solve their own problems!
But what i want to know is, why is America always in other people’s business! SMT! Don’t they have enough on their own plate to worry about? But on the other hand, why are our politicians pouring out their hearts to these people? These type of things always comes back to bite you in the ***! So sad!

  2. I just don’t understand how the hell the media could assertain information that was discussed in private between the Gov’t of the Bahamas and The US embessay. Bahamians must understand that nothing discussed with an American is confidential. Ask the Indians about the white man and he will tell you that he have “fork tongue”.
Everything discussed was leaked by someone in the embessay and now the Embessay is talking gibbish and not wanting to accept responsibility for such actions.
I will vote for anyone who is willing to tell the public that they would prosecute anyone found to be committing treason.
There are many in this country who should have been tried, convicted and sent to prison.

  3. bp, THIS SOUNDS LIKE IT IS MERELY A SUGGESTION. HOWEVER, TIME WILL TELL, AS THE EVENTS TEACH US FULLY THE TRUE INTENT OF THE DIPLOMATIC ARM OF THE US GOVT, ALWAYS PRESENT IN OUR MIDST.

FRIENDS, CONTROLLERS OR GUARDIANS OF THEIR OWN INTERESTS? SOON AND VERY SOON, WE WILL BE FULLY EDIFIED!
