  1. @lady Phillippa

So I passed to see REALLY how many people was at this rally tonight, and I can truly say that the field was not even half full, since numbers mattered soooo much to prove things.

Anyway….if you were found out to be a TRAITOR OF YOUR COUNTRY would you not DEMAND POLICE PROTECTION??? HA HA THIS IS TOOO MUCH.

BUT THEY THINK THEY SAW PEOPLE LAST TIME, WAIT TILL MONDAY. I say bring the goat skin drums, cow bells, and horns WITH YA FLAG. Lets show them what we mean when we say NO!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

  2. @tired

FOR REAL …. THAT 5 YEARS “KNOCKED TOGETHER” CAPITAL WORKS PROJECTS “PLAN” THING THAT BOTH PARTIES PUT ON GLOSSY PAPER AND PRESENT IS PLAYED OUT. THE SAD PART IS NEITHER MAJOR PARTY WILL MAKE AN “EFFORT” AT PRODUCING A NATIONAL PLAN.

WE WILL BE FED A DIET OF BACKWARD LOOKING OBSERVATIONS ABOUT WHO DID OR DIDN’T DO WHAT UNTIL ELECTION DAY – WATCH. IT IS NOT GOING TO BE A BATTLE OF IDEAS. THESE GUYS INTEND TO BRING OUT THE GRILL, THE LARGE COOLER AND LOTS OF LOUD MUSIC. THEY PLAN TO SWING US AGAIN (THE FNM IS HAVING A CONCERT/RALLY RIGHT NOW). WELL AT LEAST OUR LOCAL MUSICIANS WILL HAVE JOBS, JOBS, JOBS.

WENDALL JONES SAID INGRAHAM TOLD HIM THAT HE DOESN’T BELIEVE IN DEBATES. WHAT KIND OF BONE HEAD NONSENSE IS THAT? HOW ARE WE SUPPOSE TO KNOW HIS VIEWS ON MATTERS BEYOND THE MANIFESTO (OR WHATEVER THEY CALL IT THIS TIME)? THAT SHOUTING AND MOCKING THAT THEY DO IN PARLIAMENT DOESN’T INFORM US, SO WHEN WILL WE BE TOLD. THE PLP AND FNM ARE IN THE SAME BOAT.

    • Hey BP, when did it become necessary for gazetted Police Officers to be visibly on stage to protect a Prime Minister in The Bahamas? Boy,this PM Ingraham is paranoid, delusional and as the good Dr suggested, bi-polar, as well!

  3. So its 7:55pm Saturday and i’m watching the FNM rally on ZNS the artist Bodine Johnson is singing the song “I don’t want you anymore” Ha Ha, How profound is this, Ha Ha. I mean do you think she knows the message she is sending to the Governmment Ha Ha.Stop Ha, I can’t take it.

  4. @ andre

    YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

I attempt to cut off the foolish partisan politics talk to introduce sensible considerations, but many of these “jokers” want to engage in this PLP vs. FNM nonsense, day in and day out.

Jamaica has a 30 years national plan in place.

Trinidad has a 20 years timeline to achieve clearly communicated national goals.

For God’s sake man, even the Turks & Caicos Islands were functioning with A REQUIREMENT OF JOINT OWNERSHIP BETWEEN ITS NATIONALS AND ANY FOREIGN ELEMENT TO OWN BUSINESSES THERE.

These jokers (some posters on this site) are talking nonsense about who has “dirt” on whom. In their minds that is the burning issue which should both drive the campaign and determine who becomes the next government. Then WE wonder why others regard us (Bahamians) as nothing but fools – I know you see the point.

    Keep posting your message.

    • Trinidad needs a national plan…they’ve had 5 elections over the past decade or so. Jamaica…ok.

Real talk though, we need national plan as well. We’ve had a bunch of 4 year plans with a few long term projects thrown in here and there.

The City of Nassau is a microcosm of it all as the city is haphazardly laid together.

  5. arn’t we the young and educated tired of these type of games the partys play.the btc sale is a real national issue it’s not time to have concerts and drinks, thats how they keep us stupid, dumb and brain washed.let us not continue to bet on our future with this crop of leaders we have now,i say march on bahama land.

  6. @ Guy Fawkes

GREAT POST, unfortunately it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with your earlier comments to which I responded. I guess you CAN’T DEFEND YOUR POINT THAT THE DISPLAY OF FNM SUPPORTERS AT THE FNM RALLY SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY CONSTITUTES “A MAJORITY OF BAHAMIANS WHO AGREE WITH THE SALE OF BTC.”

I remain convinced that the outcome of the next general elections is in the hands of independent voters (like myself) and not party loyalists whose support is assumed already by the respective parties.

I HAVE NOT YET MET ANYONE (AND NO ONE KNOWN BY ME KNOWS ANYONE EITHER) WHO DID NOT SUPPORT THE FNM DURING THE LAST ELECTION (2007) BUT IS PREPARED TO SUPPORT THE FNM IN THIS ELECTION. DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO FITS THIS DESCRIPTION AND NOW SUPPORTS THE FNM?

This is the kind of thing that should cause alarm bells to ring throughout the HQs on Mackey Street. HOW DOES RALLIES WITH THE TROOPS ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?

    THE END

  7. I will be at the rally and I do encourage all Bahamians to just simply understand that what is going to happen is the right thing to do.

BTC is too backwards, it has to be sold.

    • YES serious thing, and Ingraham will gather all a yinner to tell yall “YINNER TOO DUMB TO RUN BTC!

Boy, this some **** eh? Bahamians need not apply and the jeckles agree!

      BP

  8. @STORM 🙂
    I agree with you.
From what I’m hearing a lot of FNMs are looking for a good independent candidate who care about Bahamians and have a plan to represent them.
I’m most certainly can’t by any means support the sale of this money making 100% Bahamian company to any foreigner. I’m thinking Liberalization NOT EVEN Privatization…along with a way to keep the government out of BTCs operations. BTC needs some changes yes but BTC has done excellent over the years.
My main problem with Privatization is that the millions of dollars being poured into the treasury will be cut off. HOW will we make up for this.
LORD knows I’m already tired of high TAXES.
Then there are the millions of dollars in subsidy for all those other government department that can’t afford to pay their bill…I think 15Million was the last figure I heard.
We need to see the BIGGER picture. ZNS was being subsidized now its closed.
YOU see BTCs dollars is not only funding its own operation profitably it take care of the rest of the Government Departments. WE ALL BENEFIT and much more.
YOU can’t ask a private company to do that.

  9. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS NO THANKS, NO THANKS!!! IM RESTING FOR THE PROTEST ON MONDAY INSTEAD. DONT FORGET BAHAMIANS MONDAY MONDAY, THIS IS THE TIME TO STAND TOGETHER PLP’S FNM’S NDP’S BDM’S BLACK, WHITE, YELLOW, POOR, RICH, ALL BAHAMIANS, BE THERE ON MONDAY, IT’S TIME TO FIGHT BACK!!!

  10. @ Guy Fawkes

The presence of FNMs at the rally is not an indication that THEY ALL SUPPORT THE SALE. The rally was not advertised saying “if you support the sale then attend the rally.”

The MISREPRESENTATION THAT THE MAJORITY OF BAHAMIANS SUPPORT THIS SALE is what has the FNM in this awkward position. No one truly knows where the majority stands – NOBODY). I can argue that IF THE MAJORITY OF BAHAMIANS SUPPORT THIS BTC SALE, THEN NO RALLY IS NECESSARY TO PERSUADE THE MINORITY OF THAT BECAUSE THE UPCOMING GENERAL ELECTIONS RESULTS WILL VINDICATE THE PARTY.

THE RALLY LOOKS LIKE A DESPERATE MOVE BY A DOUBLY DESPERATE LEADER FROM WHERE I SIT (independent voter to the core). Finally, this election will be decided by US (independent/swing voters) NOT DIE-HARDS. I WILL POST THIS AGAIN FOR YOUR BENEFIT :- YOUR VOTE IS ALREADY ASSUMED BY THE PARTY AND COUNTED. MY VOTE IS THE UNKNOWN FACTOR AND THE ONE BEING COURTED. AMEN.

    • @Storm, unlike other bloggers, you will find that i will not go post for post with you.

Now on to your posting. This is a PLP site (whether you admit it or not, that is none of my concern), so there is a motive behind BP encouraging me to stay home. With BTC being the hottest topic of the day (which I support in it’s current form, i.e selling 51%), it is not that far fetched that BP will put their spin to me not showing up to support the government, at least until this sale is completed.

Secondly, I feel as if i am a true independent. I vote for the person, not a party. While I agree with the government with the sale of BTC to C&W. I disagree with them on the road works underway in New Providence. Not from the stand point that the works are not necessary, but to the amount of road works underway at one time.

Lastly, both parties are claiming that they have the support of the majority of Bahamians, but at least the FNM’s deal with C&W seems more legitimate than the PLP’s Bluewater deal (which no one seems able to articulate all of the details of that sale).

      • But one thing is clear Guy we don’t hide it. WE TELL YA IN YA FACE THE FNM GA LOSE THE NEXT ELECTION, THAT OUR PREDICTION!

And unlike the Rags in this country. The Tribune in particular, we will sound our unflinching support behind the PLP soon!

And we would do so as we did candidates. The New York Times and the Washington Post does the same! Only yinner with yinner red sef, want be reading a PLP site and post more than PLPs! Yinner HAVE NO DAMN SHAME GUY! NONE!

At least we post ya comments, unlike the torch!

        BP

  11. I don’t think so media. We need to march down to Clifford Park in droves to show the government that much more people are for this sale rather than against it. Nice try to get us to stay home, but i would rather be out there to show my support, than to let you try and say no one showed up….
