NASSAU, Bahamas — Women of Zonta Club of New Providence and Nassau yesterday paid a courtesy call to Governor General of The Bahamas Dame Marguerite Pindling at Government House in honor of the 2016 International Women’s Day.
The women’s organization also gifted Her Excellency with a yellow rose arrangement, which is the Zonta Club of New Providence’s signature token signifying a commitment to improving lives of women all around the world.
“Every year we celebrate International Women’s Day through our annual yellow rose arrangement event, where we raise funds for our workforce training and scholarship programs,” said Marisa Mason-Smith, President of the Zonta Club of New Providence. “We must all do our part as there is still a lot of work to be done in empowering women with the tools and skills that are needed to create better lives for themselves and their families.”
Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling received nearly one-dozen members of the global organization and discussed many topics concerning women in the nation and around the world.
